We want to thank all of you who attended United We Stand – Freedom Fest 2009 . We hope you enjoyed yourselves and learned something in the process. We couldn’t do any of this without your support and commitment to the cause of retaining our freedoms.
Kansas City Tea Party is in the process of transitioning over to Modern Day Patriots Inc. a new 527 political organization. This site will stay up for as long as it needs to be for the transition. The name has changed but our commitment to you and our goal to hold our government accountable have not. We intend on continuing to have future events that we hope you will attend and be a part of. We hope that you will join us at www.moderndaypatriots.org and continue to be an integral part of everything we do. The Modern Day Patriots website is still under construction but you will be able to find event and other information on this site and the Modern Day Patriots site.
Thanks Again,
Leslie and Bob

Freedom Fest 2009
It’s been unseasonably cool this summer. Time to turn up the heat on your Congress person, Senator, even the White House in the forum of public opinion.
Today I read several articles on the web in which White House proxies labeled any protester standing up against the Socialization of America as unhinged, fringe, extremist, fear mongering, paid for, uneducated and ignorant. A CNN contributor pleaded for an end to the screaming in the debate over health care. And I saw several instances where followers of the Tea Party movement were referred to with the derogatory and sexually suggestive term “tea baggers.”
I say keep it up. Keep turning out to the coffee talks and kitchen table chats. Take your cameras and your common sense questions. Be respectful, but firm. Be bold. Be heard. It takes a lot of courage to speak in public, let alone address an elected official. You can do it. We must do it.
Just remember this. Only a few months ago, dissent was patriotic. Well what happened? Did Congress jam through some urgent bill that suddenly outlawed dissent against healthcare reform, cap and trade, and endless borrowing and spending, and any other White House agenda?
No. Not yet, anyway. Your representatives work for you. It’s time for their semi-annual review. Show them where they have room for improvement. Insist they read legislation before rubber stamping it. Remind them that it’s a jobless recovery, and there are thousands of restless and equally qualified folks looking to take their jobs, and their gold-plated benefits, if they don’t start representing the will of their constituents. I’ll see you out there. read more…

What makes the Kansas City Tea Party not just a political moment, but a powerful movement? Check out this 10:00 mini-documentary to find out. Tell us what you think.
We want to thank all of the Modern Day Patriots for coming to the Kansas City Tea Party/An American Celebration. We had a great time with all of you standing up for our freedom, without you none of this is possible so again Thank You for your support and visit the site frequently for upcoming events.
Just a reminder to everyone that more than ever your country needs you to turn out this 4th of July for a Patriotic Tea Party. Yes, it’s a holiday. Yes, it might be hot. Yes, it might rain. But an hour out of your Saturday morning, a little perspiration on your back, or maybe a little precipitation on your head represent small sacrifices for a country which, to this point, has given us so much. It’s our turn to give back by showing our commitment to defend the values and freedoms we hold dear, and that most of us probably agree are under great threat, both internal and external.
Remember that first rag-tag Tea Party outside Dennis Moore’s office in February? I think it was in the low 20s, but I never felt such warmth from so many like-minded strangers. Or how about marching in the mini-blizzard from the Plaza to Senator McCaskill’s office a few weeks later? Frozen feet never felt so good. And how about the Soap Box at JCCC on April 15? Who knew we had such gifted orators, or so many friends?
We owe it to our country, our children, and ourselves to set the alarm early on Saturday, round-up the kids, the in-laws and cousins from out of town, grab the flag from its place on the porch or in the basement, and head out to State Line Road for a flag-waving Tea Party and birthday celebration. Bring your ice-cream freezers. Bring your lemonade. Bring your flags and lawn chairs. Most of all, bring your pride in being an American, your concerns for the future, and your conviction that it’s time to stand up once again for the greatest country in the World. I’ll be there with a camera crew, and we can’t wait to hear what you have to say.
